okay guys i have a shity problem with my DA… its a 91 LS special…
so yesterday i was going out and i went outside to warm up the car. so i did but then about two minutes into it, it just turned off… and i tried to turn it back on and it would just crank…
things ive checked… and checked it by changing the parts from a friends DA.
i replaced the coil on the distributor, and used my friends just incase mine was bad…
the ECU
main fuel relay.
NOW i did check for spark and there is no spark from the distributor so thats what lead me to think it was the distributor… the thing is that my check engine turned on when the car turned off but the ECU doesnt give me a code…
my friend told me that on any DA DB when you turn the ignition on the ECU flashes one time and mine doesnt at all.
mind that i triend someones elses ECU from a running working car…
ples if you guys can help me cause i need my car to work…
you are correct about the ECU blinking but you have to put a jumper wire in the access port in order for that to happen.
figgure out the code and then get back to us.
As far as checking for a spark. I just take the spark plug wire and pull it from the plug and hold it over a stud or piece of metal on the motor and look for a arch between the two as someone esle cranks the car over.
You said you replaced the coil, did you check that the ignitor unit is in spec?
ok… well upon further ideas. i found out it was the alternator fuse…
it was popped so i put i new and and it popped again…
so i did a test which was to unplug the alternator and crank it again. if the car started up and didnt blew the fuse then it would be the alternator that was giving me a short…
and well that was it. my friend gave me an alternator he had laying around and fixed the problemm… so i guess for thoses that have had this problem. this goes another way to check… lol
