hey i traded my white hood for a carbon fiber one plus some cash, the hood fit perfectly on the guys car as i even helped take it and unbolt est. problem is i put it on my car and it wont line up at all and is kinda bowed in the middle but it wasnt like that on his car, my frame isnt bent and my fenders are fine as it has never been wrecked so im confused on what it would be any help would be appreciated
try adjusting the hood lock. the plate it is all on has 3 bolts you LOOSEN THEM dont take them out. and then the latch and all of that slides up and down. its trial and error.
thanks, my car is at my uncles shop right now getting a motor put in, he said that and my hinges could be a little bit bent too cause it sits farther to the right ill go try what youu said tomorrow though thanks
mines was bowed also until i got my hood pins on
yeah i got my hood pins ordered but the latch trick worked buit it is still bowed alil bit hopefully hood pins will help
im having the same problem! my cf hood is bowed as well. might be a 92-93 to 90-91 sorta deal? I’m thinking hood pins would be a bad idea though… Drilling carbon fiber is a very tough and complicated process. Also, the pins might cause more of a bow if installed wrong, so be careful bro.
i am i have a shop local that has done it to a few of my buddies hoods i wouldnt do it my self at all
yup carbon is a bitch to drill
i got stupid and cracked mines by drilling it
its not a bad crack but visible
i learned my lesson on my next carbon hood
yeah i was going to do it but had asecond thought when i went to do it so the guy that did my friends hoods is doing mine so i dont have to worry bout it getting fucked
Have you all bought the same brand of hood? This is not meant to be a hack just a question. Is it a cheap hood compared to other ones? One thing about buying body parts is you get what you pay for. When I repair cars at work we are obligated by insurance companies to try to repair them with cheaper aftermarket parts before we are allowed to use the more expensive OEM parts (even on new cars). The same is true for these custom aftermarket parts. The cheaper they are the worse they fit. However I know nothing about these carbon fiber hoods (Maybe they all do that) so I could just be talking out of my ass.
na your right my crx i had a crappy old carbon hood and it didnt line up right but the one i have now is vis so its a good brand i found my problem my latches that attached to the hood were bent somehow and i juss needed to mess with the hood latch a little bit
adjust your fenders as needed. i bet the guy you got it from had his adjusted. i adjusted mine a little. As far as bowing in the middle it’s common when there isn’t a cheap fiberglass skeleton. mine bow’s in cold weather but lays nice and flat when it’s warm out or the engine is warm. hope that helps!
some 1 told me if u u leave the car under the hot sun for awhile u can actully adjust the cf hood
thanks guys i appreciate the info adjusted my fenders its even now when the motor gets installed all the way i am going to go get atop coat on the hood and sand out the rust i found since the car has been sitting for abit
the sun trick fixed mine when i had it
i guess it really works then:up:
The only carbon fiber hood i’ll get is Fiber Images…screw that VIS or Seibon crap…:nana:
oooh
fiber images huh i got to check them out
me too are they pretty good quality?
its good enough for me…
good luck finding them…i heard its hard to come by them now…and if you do…it’ll cost more than vis or seibon…
