My Carbon Fiber Hood as had a rise from the fenders since I got it, I bought it used off another car and it seems like maybe it’s letting go from its frame. So when u look at the car from the side it looks really bad, bumped up, can anyone help me or has anyone had this problem before, could it be the latch
What brand is it?
Judging by the 2nd pic, it seems that it’s lined up pretty well in the front.
Unfortunately, most of the off brand c/f hoods for ours car does not fit very well.
I’ve seen quite a few and even had the opportunity to install one on a friends car which to me, was a very poor fit.
Is it difficult to close the hood? Is the fiberglass skeleton separating from the carbon fiber shell on the sides?
no it’s not to bad to close It i just lay it clicked then push with 2 palms to lock it and on the sides it’s not seperating but in the middle above the engine it seems to be a little seperated/let go from the frame
i’ve seen that before… thankfully mine was not as bad… but it was still there… i adjusted the rubber bumpstops on the radiator supprt, AND moved the hood latch down farther to help compensate. its to the point it actually takes some effort to close the hood
maybe that will help? just be sure to trq down the hod latch again tightly
I’m actually having the exact same problem, haven’t tried to address it yet, mine is a VIS Carbon Hood, it’s probably 3+ yrs old though. I’ll letcha know if i figure out how to fix mine.
try loosening the latch bolts see if releaves some of the stress that might be causing the hood to bind up like that.
or adding washers to the front latch to see it’ll do the trick too. It took much adjusting to get mine to fit perfectly like a OEM hood, It also depends on the actual brand VIS, you’ll get lucky and have a good fitting hood of the bat, most of the time you need to work with ti to get it to fit right. When i get home i’ll show you some pictures of how my hood fits now.
If it’s a unknown brand more chance for it to totally fit like *hit
mines the same at first it used to bug me… i have a carbon creations.,. i had to get hood pins hood wudnt lock and fit like crap wit hood pins its not that bad… its still off when im bored with car ill get another cf hood as for now i live wit it. the hood looks sick
Yeah, it’s not amazingly bad on mine, I looked at it, it’s just warped, doesn’t seem to be getting any worse and can’t be fixed. It’s just something to live with.
Wow, mine is now beginning to do this too. it looks like Sh!t. I’m going to try and adjust it as well, but from the looks of my front end, its already at its lowest point. I may just ditch this thing for a stock hood again.
Yeah, I’m kinda back and forth on the whole deal, it’s not too bad yet, it’s really only noticable from inside the car looking down the edge of the hood.
I still have my stock white hood too, so never too late to go back.
facebook is the new picture host! shit always works… except when their site it down. my dotphoto images never post up in forums anymore, but facebook works everrrytime.
anyways, it’s interesting because I just got into a little fender bender, replaced my hood and now my stock hood is binding up like that on only my driver side… I have yet to figure out what the culprit is…
just wondering any one have any problems reattaching there spray nozzles to there CF hoods? i just purchased a VIS racing CF hood (OEM STYLE) and i cant figure out how to put the spray nozzles on? on the hood theres clips to hold down the lines but not the nozzles =/
My teg came with a hood that did the same thing. I fixed it by throwing the piece of shit away and putting a stock hood on. Carbon fiber hoods suck IMO
yeah i was sketchy about this CF hood not fitting the way OEM stock hood would although it is an “OEM CF HOOD”. i hit someone couple days ago. thankfully its not as bad. pass. side dented. nearly cracked my 1pieces but no. i was thinking about getting a CF but knowing it will eventually come out like this… SUCKS.
