my hood its all messed up looks like the sun burn all the clear out of it…soo today i put some rubbing compaund and wax in one side to see how it looks and this is what i got…and u could see the difference…
but after a week it gets back to what it was before…why its thats???
Try sanding with something over 1000 grit and polishing with a rotary buffer. You need the sanding to get a fresh layer of clearcoat. The wax just fills in pits in the old clearcoat, which wears off like you found.
what kind of compund its good to use with the buffer?..or what steps to do?
use 2000 grit then you will need to get a good buffer like a dewalt high speed buffer grinder. Then get some cutting or rubbing compound cut hood after you sand. After that use another softer polishing pad and some polish buff again and then wax and that hood should stay good fro a while just keep it waxed at least every 6 months. It sound like alot but that should do it
cutting compound i dont get that…and also cut the hood??..sorry for not understanding but what u mean…
its just called that its kinda like liquid sand paper but really fine it will take out all the sand scratches from sanding and smooth out the clear go to an auto body suply store tell them you wanr 3m cutting compound and some polish.
oohh ok thank for ur reply…
Cut is a detailer term, its a paste thats gritty to the touch.
post pics when your done, lets see the difference
i dont have a buffer, and this is probably the stupidest question but i was thinking of wet sanding a CF duck ill that i’m trying to sell and spray some krylon clear on it. would it look good or just try finding some one that would buff for cheap(which will probably be hard to find)…
would it work sanding the hood and then using krylon clear on it…
like this guy^^ decides to do it…
i heard peanut butter works rather well on cf parts
and according to Honda-tech, they also work wonders on rims as well shrug
