Carfax help and Salvaged car info

Hey guys, I was thinking of buying a civic to accompany my DA, and I found a pretty cool civic in my area for pretty cheap, only problem is that I hear it is salvaged, however I hear it was due to theft. Supposedly has never been in an accident, and the only thing wrong which is being fixed is the key assembly was messed up when it got stolen. I’m seeing the car on sunday as was wondering if there are any things to look for besides like checking the underside of car for frame damage or anything with the cross members and knocking for bondo. also if anyone has carfax that would help greatly, supposedly 7 records but I can’t see, and I don’t think carfax has that free record check anymore (DAMN!) well here’s the vin if someone wouldn’t mind 2HGEJ2126SH569336 thanks guys for any help

If they stole the wheels also check the suspension/brakes because the tow truck drivers will just drag the car on and off the flatbed. Make sure everything stolen has been replaced and all the proper screws and bolts are there. Don’t forget salvaged cars are worth half of normal.

luciferi thanks alot because actually they did steal the wheels on their, it has since been replaced with the stock steelies, but I will see what I can see, the other things they stole was a strut bar (or sway, can’t remember) and intake and the stereo. everything (except maybe the stereo) has been replaced. thanks alot for the help. anyone else?

another thing to keep in mind is that if you purchase this car and fully insure it, and it just so happens that down the road you total it, the insurance company takes about 20% off the final price that they give you because of the salvaged title.

I would also strongly advise running a carfax report, because the car could have been salvaged many times before that. I had a 91 acura legend that the seller told me had a salvaged title because it was a thefy recovery. So, i bought it, and 6 months later I happened to total it :frowning: The insurance company then proceeded to tell me that the car had been branded a salvaged title 4 OTHER times before!!! and then it was put back together. I am very lucky that I was not hurt in the accident because of that piece of crap car. people car be very shady when it comes to sellin cars. let me know if you have any questions. hope this helps.
