I have a problem with my (new) catalitic converter… It “rattles” slightly. I think its the heat plate hitting the cat as it vibrates… Im sure this would be very simple to fix. But, what if I took it completely off and put a straight pipe on it… I’m not really worried about emmisions… But is this a good idea? will it cause any problems in the long run? btw, I have a completely stock exhaust system. Any input would be helpful. Thanks…
if you want to straight pipe it, that’s all up to you. but you can simply just take off the heat shields on the cat, and be done with the rattling. it won’t hurt the cat.
Well, my only worry is that it will be too loud, The only modification done to my teg thus far is removal of the intake resonator… I will be doing the “RAM” air custom mod shortly here… But i dont want my nice “humm” to turn into a load “growl”…
ok, but just know that putting on a straight pipe and open air filter element is going to increase noise. good luck in what you choose to do.
Just wanna post some inputs. i brought my car with out a cat. it was a straight pipe. it only gets too loud in high rpm’s. but everything else works fine.
