Catch can or run open pvc???

Alright got a couple question about what to do about the stock pvc system. Have been told to run a valve cover breather while blocking off the port on the intake manifold and running the oil separator(black box) on the back of the block wide open. Is this a decent method at all ? what are the neg and pos or running this? Or would i be beter off just spending the money and run a diy or a brand name baffled catch can.

u shouldnt run open at all…well unless u like tickets upwards of 1000bucks

are you serious?

Yes, some people do it. So can you do it, yes. Would I recommend it, no. You can also experience a lot of oil loss by doing it this way. With a catch can the lines allow some of the oil to drain back and only seperate what is needed. Another reason not to do it is because it’s just bad for the enviroment. It’s supposed to be a closed loop design. BTW, it’s PCV haha. HTH.

I made a catch can for my teg like this one using the same air compressor filter from Home Depot. It works really well. I’ve heard bad things about changing your closed PCV system into an open one. Also read the write up on catch cans in the G2IC archives. Read this thread too.

Oh and you should have searched.

most cop will not even know what a pvc is…are you thinking open headers?

Just run a catch can. Have that peace of mind.

hay rice man u need to run an real catch can from zero 1000 not a e-bay crap

what about all the guys running wire tucked engine bays?
