CEL with no code

Long story short. 90 DA all stock. My radiator crapped out, car overheated. Check Engine light came on when it got hot. I shut it off asap. Replaced radiator today. Temp is fine now, and no leaks anywhere. When driving car seems fine until you rev it out higher than normal driving the check engine light comes on. So I tried and pull the code, and it doesnt throw any. I reset ECU and went for a drive… same thing CEL comes on as soon as I rev it over 4G.

Yes I know how to pull the codes. I have it jumpered when i put key to on the CEL comes on and goes off after about a second or two.

Your car has a red flashing light on the ECU itself, you don’t look for the CEL to flash like later models.

90-91 OBD0 and 92-93 OBD1

Jump your service connector, pull down your carpet on the passenger side floor to expose your ECU shield, turn your key to ign.II, and you should see a red light blinking on the ECU through a little hole on the shield.

On my 92 RS, it flashes at the CEL.

90-91: read code off of ecu. no jumper necessary
92-93: read code off of cel. jumper is needed
