Sup yall, just thought id drop a line on a little info i have here about Ebay ECU’s with so called " Aftermarket Chips".
I purchased a Chipped p28 off of ebay a while back for my lsvtec i was building. It came with 2 chips, a skunk2 chip, and a mugen chip.
They were garbage. The Skunk2 chip moved the redline to 8,800 and kicked vtec engagement to 4800. There was a noticeable differnce in high end power, but the car ran EXTREMLEY rich, i mean BAD, plus the vtec engagement was so early and it was just horrible, the kick in was soo abrubt, and it felt like crap.
The mugen chip raised vtec from 5500( roughly stock) to about 6,600 and moved the redline to 10,000. It wouldnt even run properly, it spit and sputtered like crazy.
The ECU, however, is in perfect working condition, and thats really all i payed for in the end.
Ive searched thru a few forums here and there, and havent really had a good HIT on what i just covered here, i had to piece all my info together to give a good review.
My advice, is go thru a company DEDICATED to working and programming ECU’s to your exact specs. or a VFAC 8P.
But anyhow, hope this helps some of you out, that ebay shit is just a scam, your only paying for the ecu really, and thats it.
P.S. Back to my P61 untill i can send it out for the real deal.
