Where can I get a Chrome b18a1 valve cover???
take urs to a powder coater and have them powder coat it chrome
what Bryan said or spend months trolling the internet waiting for one to become available…
That’s powdercoat, he was asking for chrome. If you want it chromed, then you need to call a shop that does chrome plating. Just do some google searches for “metal plating” “chrome plating” or “metal coating” in your area. You should be able to find some stuff. If you can’t find what you’re looking for with that method, then find a shop that does custom work. A hot rod shop, motorcycle shop…etc go in and ask them who they use to do their chrome plating, a nice shop should be able to point you in the right direction.
there is also a chrome powder coat available… is alot cheaper than doing it the old way. Most powdercoaters will charge around 50 bucks for the job versus 2-3 times that for chrome plating…
Was one of the options avaiable when I got my PC’d valve cover
Powdercoat chrome does NOT look like real chrome… It’s a far, FAR 2nd.
It does not shine or reflect like chrome… More like a shiny silver.
If you’re set on chrome, do as Colin said.

Yeah, like Sean mentioned, they do make a “chrome” powdercoat but it’s not a suitable substitute for actual chrome if that’s what you’re looking for. Actually a good example is the paint scheme on the Maclaren F1 cars. Same goes for a polished valvecover. Same “shiny” idea as chrome, but a completely different look.
Even polished looks better than the powder chrome. Ick!
Yeah, personally I think the powder coat “chrome” looks cheap. Sometimes if you do the “black chrome” type of ones then it can look good in the right application. Regardless, it’s not really a substitute for chrome.
apparently none of u have seen some recent chrome powder coat, cuz i sure was fooled the other day when i asked a guy who polished the shit out of his valve cover…all it was, oh yea chrome powder coat
If you see chrome powder and plated chrome, side by side, there is a huge difference.
If YOU can’t tell the difference then by all means go the less expensive route. But I know for 100% fact that there’s a visual difference.

Whereas this is very much true… the newer powdercoats are pretty impressive looking… that was all I was getting at…,
I got ya.
And from the cost-standpoint, powder is the way to go.
Plating is not an easy process… honestly, no one in this state will chrome plate wheels, as it is very tough to get it in tight corners and spaces, the machinery to do such jobs is crazy-expensive… everyone has to ship them out to CA.
I had to jump through hoops to get a buddy’s intake manifold plated… and they actually nickel plated it, then chromed it, and you could tell the slight color difference (between the runners) because nickel is a bit easier to work with.
Not to go on a tangent, but it’s tough to find people who will plate certain objects.
OP, let us know what you find.
