civic raditaor in a DA

which year civic radiator will work in my DA and how do i go about doin the swap? what hoses, brackets ect…

Ef 88-91

EG 92-95. All you need is the rad and cap and the top mount. You’ll need to hack up the mount and drill a hole to put it on. Stock hoses are fine. I did the swap in about 5min excluding cutting and welding the mount. Oh and GET A AFTERMARKET FAN and make sure its a duel core rad.

so i can use a oem stock 92-95 civic radiator with a aftermarketfan? because im not about to spend $250+ on a aluminum radiator that i dont need

can you put pics up on how it looks inside the bay

You don’t need an aftermarket fan… Remember… The 99-00 Civic Si’s also have a DOHC motor and a half rad… same fan as the 92 civics basically…

Either way tho. the cooler the better! More power… lol. I run PWR aluminum civic half rad with 14" slim fan

Can someone post up pics of how thick a stock EF rad is?

the EF civic rad is a full rad like our integras. There would be no gain in downgrading rads. The EF rad is only a tiny bit thinner then the DA

can u run a/c w/ this half dual core radiator

No reason why you can’t. you’ jsut ahve to find a way to mount teh condensor fan directly onto the condensor

I’m actually doing this today… Reason being, my stock radiator had the bottom end tank separate and I’m a cheap bastard and don’t want to pay for a full sized one. Oh and I like the empty engine bay look. I had a FC before this car (both daily beaters) and the only thing besides the intake manifold on the engine was the alternator. With an e-fan it looked like it was powered by a mini-keg.

Oh, forgot to ask, on the bottom mounts did you guys make your own or drill out the spot welds on the old bottom mounts and weld them back up where you wanted them? Oh, and is it possible to mount the stock DA fan on the half radiator? I’d rather use it than the a/c fan.

I stand corrected, thanks for the info.

well i got a single core today that im going to put in my car tomoro, kinda dont have a choice its all i got, soo ill take pictures and all that good stuff and then give a feedback on how she dose.

welll got the rad put in in about 4 hours, with me gooffing off and doing other things to her at the same tme (AC removal) but i dont think i could be more happy. She stays real cool, even with a single core. the reson i got that rad is one it was cheap and if it could keep my buddys K20 civic cool i def thought it would keep mine cool. i couldnt use my stock hoses, had to get a peice of flex and another random hose that was on the shelf, but it looks really good. ill get picks up as soon as i can. later guys.

Did you get any pics yet? i’m really interested to see it

a CRX will bolt right up and has metal end caps, it works hella good, goin down the freeway my temp drops to almost startup temp.

sorry it took so long, ive had NO problems with this rad, my fan only works when i turn it on, via switch. the ONLY time it has gotton over half is when i was sittin at a drive thru, and wasnt looking at my gauge, but as soon as i saw it i flupped on the fan and instant cool, lol. i realized after getting it done i could have used stock hoses, but my old ones where wore out and swelled up pretty good, i would recomend getting new ones, so there is no problems with leaks. The EK had a lil smaller hoses in them, but with propper hose clamps she sealed GREAT, no leaks. here are some picks

ok so i had to do a little bit of dammage but this was to get the cap to clear the hood, theres not really anything holding it on the bottom, it just sits on that thing and the crossmember, but i did put the little rubber thing that the stock rad sat on back in to keep it off the metal, to give it a lil softer spot to sit.

and yes that is the stock mount, nothing two pair of vice grips wont fabricate, this was a pretty easy install, if you have any ? just hit me up.:nana:

well summer is getting close, cant wait to see if this little thing will hold up.

hopefully it does because i need one and i suppose i will try to find one for a 92+ civic to go in my DA and maybe move the overflow closer to the rad
