This threads i’m reading on this subject are a little confusing. I just need some assistance in installing the ITR Recaros. I just bought some used ones which came with the sliders and rails. I also bought the Wedge Engineering bracket because that appeared to be the brand most preferred for a best fit in this forum. However I can’t really find any step by step directions in doing the installation here. No pics, and people are using the terms “rail” when they mean bracket?
This is where I’m at now: I removed the whole stock seat which included the rails and sliders. Just 4 bolts. That was easy. I then placed the Wedge Engineering bracket on the floorboard. The holes match up perfectly. Now I’m looking at the bottom of the Recaro seat, and this is where I’m lost now. Do I need to remove the rails and sliders first and then mount the seat on the bracket, then reattach the rails and sliders? Then attach the seat belt unit to the Wedge bracket? Do I need to buy some bolts for this? Can the 2 stock bolts be removed? What about the electrical connection for the seat belt? Can anybody prepare a step by step list of instructions for someone who doesn’t want to think this out?
Thanks!
Did you buy the sliders from Wedge Engineering as well? That’s what I used.
No, do I need to? The used seats already came with the rails and sliders.
I’m not sure if those will mount correctly to the Wedge brackets. I bought everything from Wedge just to be on the safe side and it was almost a straight forward installation.
Did you manage to attach the seat belt container to the side of the bracket? Looks like a tight fit. If so, you had to buy some bolts for that, right?
Yup, I attached it to the side of the bracket and yes these seats all around are a tight fit. I believe I had to cut a good piece off of the bolt because my local hardware store did not have the correct length I needed. Just make sure the reclining knobs on the seats end up on the outside. If i’m not mistaken, I believe Japan installs the seats with the knobs on the inside.
Well I called Wedge Engineering and sent them pics of the seat and rails and sliders. They said I have the factory sliders on them and they won’t work with their bracket, so I need to order the sliders from them.
Now do these brackets fit the knock off recaro’s?
I finally got the brackets and sliders from Wedge Engineering. I don’t know if the brackets will fit the knock offs. You need to look at the bolt pattern at the bottom. For the Recaros there are 3 bolt holes on each side. Two of the holes are close together and located towards the front part of the seat. There is pic on this site somewhere showing the bottom of the seat and bolt holes (I think the guy from Ireland posted it). Yes, good point about making sure the reclining knobs are on the outside, near the door. The seats I got came out of a Type-R and the knobs are in the inside. Simply reverse the seats. (Driver’s seat becomes passenger seat and vice versa.). I installed the rails to the seats. Haven’t installed to the bracket yet. Will post later on my progress. Gotta buy the bolts for the seat belt container now.
