classic car insurance??

whats up fellow members i was wondering if anyone on here has classic car insurance on there db1/da tegs? if so how did you go about getting it and how much do i expect to pay? im in newyork and have a db1 1990 gs and this car is not going to be a daily driver but has to be registered to keep it in my driveway due to my town laws.

Yes I do but collectors not classic. But only because it is a gsr. I already had collectors thru Grundy on my two Legends. It took me some persuasion to get them to cover the legends a few years ago, but since they were such low mileage and somewhat rare, they agreed on covering them. I recently added my integra but they were reluctant to accept it- more so than they were on the legends. But once I told them it was a 92 gsr and quite rare and provided some info regarding its rarity from the web, they agreed to cover it. Costs me $120 a year for an agreed upon value of $8k :). Can’t use it for work, etc but that is ok for me

Damn, if I could get coverage like that I’d be stoked!

Man I pay 300+ a month wtf

This is a great topic to discuss and you’ve reminded me to give it another try. I’ve been trying to accomplish this for the last few years. I have called Hagerty for the last 5 years and they said they car wasn’t old enough and also had no interest trying to make an exception. My buddy has agreed upon value with Progressive in NH for his 91 Miata and it only costs a few hundred a year for a 10k+ value. I have Geico for my home owners, Subaru and Integra so I get a deal, but I’m willing to do the DA separate if I can get what I want. I called Geico and they do not do and have never heard of agreed upon value. Gonna make some calls. I’ll let everyone know how I make out.

MarcD - Nice work there. Which company?

For the G2IC community, this IS the time to preserve those low milage and rare '92-'93 GSR Integras and take serious care. Most definitly an importsnt subject matter to keep the DA and DB chassis a value when it is time to let it go. Especially if the unexpected occurs, at least we can cash in on our memories but it won’t replace the pain that we endure to such a loss.

Hey jdeck23- it is Grundy Worldwide. I guess I may have paved the way if you have a db2. They flat out told me no that the integra was way too mass produced. But after I sent them some pictures and some quotes from Wikipedia that state how few were made of the gsr in 92/93, they got back to me and said they would add it to my policy. The agreed upon value is neat as you can tell them what you value you it at. I suppose as long as it is not some crazy figure they accept. Your policy just goes up a bit as you raise the value. You are restricted though on the cars use. 3k miles max a year, you technically can only use it for routine exercise, car shows, etc… You are also not supposed to leave it unattended, like parking it at the mall for 4 hours

I’d like to revisit insurance options. Do any members know of a good company that will respect an “agreed to” value? The big insurance companies don’t give much thought to older cars and how much it costs to repair them. My problem is that most of the companies I’ve queried don’t insure if you drive the car every day to/from work.

I’m using Grundy but they won’t accept every car. Worth a shot, however you will have to follow “classic car” usage so you can’t really drive it much anymore.

Esurance looks like they do something similar and allow you to drive it every day. They cover “modifications”.
