Cleaning Engine, Corrosion?

I’m trying to get things squeaky clean under the hood. Unloading a ton of Simple Green took care most of the grime and grease. But, there’s like a white crust buildup on the front of the block and head. I’m guessing it’s aluminum corrosion after 11 years of midwest salt and snow?

Any ideas on clearing up this stuff? I know glass beading will do it but that’s not an option. I’m thinking wire wheel, but I’d rather use something less aggressive if I can.

Is detailing under the hood really a stock engine question?

Where would you like it then? Interior forum?

Well, we don’t have a detailing forum… I’m just looking for suggestions. Anyhow, you got my vote as moderator. Do as you wish.
