ok i read the cleaning the engine articles but umm a pic of how to prep the engine for cleaning would help out a whole lot more i really dont want to mess anything up…

Yes, be very very carful…water in your dist will make you very very angry at yourself. I washed mine once, and then read about all the other people that had problems after and I wont do it again, just recently I f’ed up my o2 sensor by getting antifreeze on it, im sure water would do the same.
If you must do it, be very carful in your prep work…cover everything electronic that you possibly can.
i think i will just wash it by hand
