Cleaning seats!

Is there anyway to clean the rear seats without purchasing a huge shampoer. Mine got wet from the famous leaking tail lights. And they got stained fron the water. Tan seats ftl!

Try Resolve Spot and Stain cleaner.

Yea thank you. I was thinking that or something along those lines. I just dont want to bleach them. It stained all the way throu. My seats are working as a sponge actually. So ill probably just pull them out till i get new taillight gaskets or something that will work!

I have used brake cleaner and an air compressor to clean seats sadly… a little ghetto but it works and obviously you should remove the seats before cleaning and allow to dry properly. Id say go with a stain remover and replace the seals to fix the tail light leak, just letting you know of a very cheap and effective alternative

a will that spot cleaning stuff work on bride seats as well?

cleaning seats

Coming from a certified detailer for 16 years and after having just cleaned three sets of teg seats this fall i can give some advice. First off, pull the seats out, this is pretty easy, it’s 7 bolts, i think, for the rears. Then get set up on some sawhorses or whatever close to your garden hose. Get some degreaser ready. I use any of the new non toxic, biodegradeable stuff like simple green, extreme green, super clean. The are all sold concentrated and you just dilute it with half water. Put in a good spray bottle. Next wet your seats down with the hose so that they’re just wet, not dripping, and try to stay away from the springs or hardware. This will help your degreaser foam up better. Then spray down each seat with the spray bottle until it foams. Then take a good scrub brush and scrub everything down till it lathers good. Next hose out all the degreaser with the hose at an angle trying to keep as much water away from the springs and backside of the seat. Then you just have to suck out as much water as possible with either a carpet cleaner with a hand attachment or shop vac. Anything works. I use a cheapo bissel from wal mart. Then just set the seats in the sun, if possible, and let them dry completely. Should take about a good day and a half, more or less. Your interior will be as clean as new and be soft and smell good. You can dilute some of your favorite laundry detergent and use after the degreaser if you’d like them to smell even better. This also works great on front seats as well. Hope this helps some of you guys.

sounds like something i will try. would you happen to have any before and after pics?

is it possible to separate the fabric from the seat itself, so it’ll be easier to clean, or even put to in a washer?

I have cleaned my seats carpet an floor mats all out of my car in the summer. When it nice an hot with my pressure washer works great gets everthing clean . An the people that know me on here have seen it ,works great MY .002 on it

All i was worried about was the bottom part of my rear seats. They got really nasty from the water that leaked in throu the taillights. Big dark bloches* With a moldy resodue on top. I thought my tan seats were history.

I went to the local walmart and picked up this…

Started to spray on then scrub with the scratchy thing that came with it. Then wipe off. I did that for about ten minutes. Then let it air dry, once dry i repeated.

They came out really good. I would give it a 9.5/10. You can still see the mark in one part very lightly, and you can see water marks from the cleaner. I havent decided if im going to try to clean it more or just call it quits. Its not really visible, but i am a perfectionist. I will post pictures tomarow if there is intrest? I only have after pictures BTW!

Sorry, i didn’t take pics this time. It’s not really the pics that do it justice anyways. It’s how soft they feel and how the overall color and fade comes out nice. Always nice to know you’re not sitting in someone else’s funk.

It is definitely possible to remove the covers from the foam, but it’s not fun. You have to pull out the old hog-rings that hold the cover to the mounting bar of the seat with a big pliers while being careful not to tear the cover. Then you must get new hog-rings and a hog-ring pliers to re-install them. You can do it with a regular needle nose, but it’s not worth the headache. If you did however remove them, I personally would not recommend throwing them in the washer. Too much tendency to fray or rip threads especially if you already have a little hole or tear. Either way, NEVER use the dryer as they WILL shrink and will be impossible to slide over the foam. Air drying is always the best bet, especially if you can find some sunshine.

Heres what they look like after wards.
