ok so everyones saying you can clear your amber out of your taillights but how? is it the same way you clear the old skool taillights on the teg tips? because i would love to know, and is there anyway i can keep the old seals? without buying new ones, thank you, i love you guys
Clearing the 92-93 tails require you to heat them up in a oven.
The 90-91 tails are cleared using simple green or some other similar cleaner.
Reusing the foam seals depends the condition of them after removing the tails from the car. You can buy a generic roll of weather stripping and make your own seal if you don’t want to buy new one from the dealer.
.
thank you for the help but when i throw them in the oven how long? and do i just wipe off the orange or what?
heat them in the oven @~ 200* for about 10 mins, try prying them apart, once they feel like they have cooled off, back in for another 5 or 10 mins, repeat, repeat, repeat, until they are opened wide enough to pull the Amber insert out…no need to fully open them and be REALLY careful when prying them apart as to not misshape or crack them…GL I would recomend a backup set just in case, they are really cheap.
hey thanx alot for the help i really appreciate it and i hope they look sic, a back up set of lights? or a back up set of seals?
make sure to be careful when getting down to the very end, found ou tthe hard way it is very easy to break the lens. also when you pull out the amber portion make sure the remaining plastic pieces (inside the light) are put back properly or they will crack once you push the lens back into place. most important take your time or else you will end ups with cracked tail lights (experience is a mother sometimes:( )
I suggest replacing the tailight gaskets. Think about how old those things are now. You don’t want your cleared tails fogging up, that will piss you off when you have to tear everything apart and put it back in. I tried cheapo stripping, but in my opinion just get the OEM gaskets.
thank you guys for the help and do i buy it from the dealer? and how much? thanx again
You might want to take of the “vents” because my experience is those melt very easily. Keep in mind that your tailights are more prone to cracking when those are out though.
