Clearing Tails... Foam Stuff safe in Oven?

I’m clearing my tails the “baker’s” way. Do I have to rip off the foam stuff on the back of the taillight? Is that going to burn? Also I undid the three screws at the edges, but that made the vent thing come loose, but it’s connected to the plastic. Do I rip the plastic off too? Will this plastic/foam stuff burn in the oven at 170-200 deg?

thanks

didnt burn for me. If you want to be careful, take off the black “gills” on the corner of the lights. Carefully remove it from the gasket, and later just silicone it back up. BTW, the silicone that I used didn’t work very well. Make sure you clean up the old glue to get a good surface to silicone with.

No, it doesnt melt… it just gets real soft. It will be fine as long as you dont face the foam on the grill, use the other side. And yes… definetly remove the gills… they will melt and you will be stuck driving with a holes in your taillights like me. I believe if you remove them from the plastic, and leave the plastic on, you can reattach them somehow. Nothing burned at 175 for me except for the stupid grills. Like vtec said, be sure to get all the glue off, otherwise, when you apply the silicone, your lights wont fit back together as good as they did… and will leak. Good luck, email me if you have any questions about it.
