Ok, so first off. I have a civic. But I have a B series tranny on my D series block. The tranny started its life as a GSR YS1. I swapped in some LS gears for 1-2, and LS final. The tranny didnt come with a clutch release arm, so I robbed one from an LS tranny.
When I put the tranny in, and tried to put my stock EF cable on, it was too short. Through research, a lot of people said the EF one is perfectly fine, and others said the DA one was what I needed. Then I found some people had shaved the cable sheathing/housing, to make the cable a little longer. I did that. But then the plastic threaded piece didnt sit right with the sheathing, and finally today, the plastic threaded part broke.
So obviously I need to replace the cable. And figured, now is the time to give the DA cable a shot. When I called around, the dealerships said that the GSR and LS have different cables.
Whats the difference? Maybe this is why my cable was too short? Maybe thats why the info I found through searching was conflicted (some people saying it was fine, some saying it was too short)? Does anyone here know? Figured you guys would have the best knowledge on this.
Cliffnotes:
-My EF cable was too short.
-Some have this issue, some dont.
-GSR and LS cables have different part numbers.
-Why?
