i have an exedy clutch that a friend of mine gave me that came out of a 95 gsr with the hydro. will it work with my ys1 out of a 91 teg cable? it fits the shaft with no problems so was wondering if i could use it with my swap or if the pressure plate was different.
the only difference between b-series transmission is the clutch, depending on which tranny u have… imma not too sure if the 95 clutch will work with the ys1 but if it fits the shaft then it should work… pressure plate and flywheel are all interchangable throughout the b-series class…
no it don’t work. I know that it “seems” like it fits, but the input shaft on your tranny is slightly smaller than the input shaft on a 95 GSR tranny, and has less splines…do not install this clutch, it will not work, the disc will be loose, and it will make funny sounds, beleive me it happened to me once…when I was a noobie and didn’t know the difference, i put a 91 s1 tranny on my teg and kept my 92 clutch kit (which is the same from 92 right through to 01) and my car didn’t even move…anyways don’t put that clutch in, get one for a 90-91 integra
and by the way, what do you mean about this statement?? only difference?? in fact there are many B series trannys that all have different characteristics…such as short gears, short gears with LSD, long gears…and the short geared trannys have even more varieties, from b16a’s, b16’b’s, b18c1, b18c5, and the jdm ITR and CTR…don’t forget the cable clutch, and hydraulic clutch designs…the different input shafts (90-91 differ from 92-01), and also different types of differential bearings
ok, so how many splines does the 92 have and the 91? cause i didnt see the year when i pulled the tranny at pull-a-part, but the yard map said the car was a 92 accord but it was a g2 teg no doubt, it was just that the sticker was gone on the door by the time i got there. how do i tell a 92 from a 91?
first of all there is no 90-91 ys1
if u do infact have a ys1 in ur car, it was swaped in
then u would need a 92+integra clutch
94+clutch works but u need to use the 92-93 ys1 TOB
i’m talking about clutch wise… not internal wise…
Correct me if I’m wrong, but is there not a JDM pre 91 B series Cable YS1 that came from the earlier Civic SIR1’s?
i dont belive so
so my ys1 is actually a 92-93? i read on another post that there was a s1/ys1 in 90 and 91 in the ls special edition tegs. so what do i need to run? i mean because like g2-r said it is a little loose and the shaft but all the splines line up and when i say loose i mean barely cant really tell loose. his exedy he used for his 91 tranny was that way too, sooooo…
ok, so about an hour ago i found out that a friend of mine bought the taillights off the car at pull-a-part that i pulled the tranny from and that it is actually a 93 teg and that he read it on the door tag. pull-a-part has it listed as a 93 accord on their yard map. so the tranny is a ys1 from a 93 teg. so that means i can use the exedy clutch i have from the 95 gsr correct?
ok i went through a bunch of crap too while doing my swap!! i believe any clutch from a 92+ will fit eachother…so if your using one off of a 95 yes it will work!! the only difference is 90-91 and 92+ are the splines, it may seem to fit and rotate but it really wont once installed,… one is 25 and the others are 26 or something like that
90-91 there is an s1, and a y1…not ys1…and if your tranny is a 93 ys1, any 92+ clutch will fit…just like soontobe2ndGEN stated, the 92-93 throw out bearing must be used. and why don’t you just look at your tranny, it should have a metal tag on it printed ys1 on it…lol
