hello…ive just taken out the pressure plate and clutch disk, i didnt get a chance to see how the disk was installed since it fell out when i removed the pressure plate. my question is…which side do i install the disk? 1 side is flushed and the other side has a backing plate which is extended when looking sideways on the clutch disk. is the flush side of the clutch disk the side to make contact with the flywheel?(i think its this way) …or is it the other way? and how many ft lbs do i torque them to?? i couldnt get the flywheel bolts out, so im not going to resurface it…you think that would be ok? thanks in advance for your help.
sorry for the double post. reply here please.
OK… i got all but 1 bolt off of the flywheel. the damn bolt wont budge at all, i tried hard taking it off with impact gun but rounded the bolt. so… now its no good. anybody has any ideas on what to do next? im gonna try and grind the bolt into a 6point hex and see if that works.
bolt
Grinding the bolt isn’t the best idea, in my opinion. I would try a slightly smaller socket (standard not metric to get a good fit), hammer it on and then break it off with a ratchet and get a new bolt. If it is still stuck, try a torch (last option I would do) or some liquid wrench stuff. I’m lazy and hate grinding so I torch and drill but it is all the same…
I second the torch idea. but dont heat the bolt directly, heat up the flywheel around the bolt and maybe try a good pair of vise grips to get it out.
Good luck
