okay so i recently had change the clutch on my integra with a brand new one, its already 600+ miles in the tranny, but when i smash from 2nd to 3rd gear around 6000 rpm it still grinds, how come still grinds? i thought with a new clutch this problem would of be gone?.. does any1 has an opinion it would be really help full thanxz
syncros is what i read, not a clutch issue.
my issue was from 2nd to 3rd. after i got a complete tranny rebuild kit from gearspeed, my mechanic dug into it. ever bearing from my tranny had noise issues.
i would let the RPMs drop before i shift gears if i were you. then rebuild it when you can. dropping the tranny sucks.
like it shifts normal at low rpms but say im smashing when im mergin on the fwy or of i wanna smash on some1 its gona grind…i just barely got the tranny drop this month to do the clutch job…so u saying i need a new tranny its that wat u recomend?
He said what he recomends… Have it looked over because since our transmissions are nearly 20 years old, parts are likely wearing out and showing age… and if you’re ‘smash’n 0n dem geerz’ and all that, you aren’t helping the situation. You obviously have some sort of internal problem, and its not the clutch.
Either:
- Have someone who knows transmissions look into what parts need replaced.
- Have the entire thing rebuilt.
- Buy another transmission and hope its in better shape.
correct, you need to drop the tranny and fix the issues. seach syncros. most people talk about the syncros when they have the gear grinding at high RPMs. yea, let the RPMs drop beofre you shift so you dont cause more damage. i would not suggest putting in another 20year old tranny unless you want this issue again.
listen man. check your motor mounts. at high rpm when the engine is torqued over the shifter rods get mis aligned just enough to make it grind. get some cheap urathane and fill your mounts. just to see if thats the problem
As everyone else stated, your syncros are probably on their way out. But if you haven’t already check your trans fluid and maybe flush it out with some good syncromesh fluid such as royal purple or gm/pennzoil stuff… I personally had some grinds when going into first and reverse as well as a few other gears and flushed out my old fluid with some pennzoil syncromesh and now I have almost no grinds and shifting is much cleaner… Just my 2cents
