Well I’ve done some research about our clutch system and have noticed that I have no free play in my pedal (.59 travel from top). Also The past few days its starting to slip throughout all gears only after I have driven it for awhile. My commute is about 125 miles a day. For the first 30 minutes of driving or so it catches and pulls just fine. I don’t get on the gas hard. After driving on the highway awhile or in some stop-n-go traffic its starts to give way and slips. Still drivable if I keep off the throttle and keep the RPM’s low. Will adjusting the pedal help any? Maybe after warming up its not fully engaged, being no free play in the pedal? I know this should be my first step before looking to purchase a new clutch. Did some calling around (No time to do it myself)and its about 400+ in just labor alone without resurfacing the flywheel. Thanks
If it’s just a DD, the Exedy stock replacement (They make clutches for many OEMs including Honda) works great! Amazon is the cheapest you’ll find it, no doubt, I’ve bought a couple from there. Also I wouldn’t waste any money towards an aftermarket flywheel for a DD. $40 (depending on the area) to get your stocker resurfaced and you’re good to go!
Right on man. Yea i was considering the Stage 1 just to have it in there in case i went back to using my LS as a DD and play with the GSR. I just love driving my DB2 to and from work. I like to get on it every now and then to stretch her legs. So yea since OEM stock clutches are good for DD and occasional encounters with other imports I might just go with the Exedy OEM. Its cheap and effective for now. Thanks
Ok, just drove from class to my house and no slipping (30 miles or so half city half highway). Any thoughts on why this could be? As stated up top, will adjusting the clutch/cable help with this maybe being I have no free play in the pedal?
Sorry, I didn’t get back to ya. But if you haven’t done yet, adjust the clutch cable so there’s 4-5mm of free play. As the clutch disk wears down, the adjustment goes out of spec, so you just have to check on it every once in a while and adjust accordingly. If it comes to a point where you can’t adjust the cable anymore and it’s always slipping, time for a new clutch
Cool man, let us know!
And Carl, thanks, lol. But that title is already taken by someone a bit more versed than me in these beasts We can just say that I’m on my journey to G2 enlightenment, haha
Adjusted my cable. Gave it a few turns lefty loosey and the pedal now has that little free play that is recommended. Did my typical drive and the clutch engagement now feels right and close to what my LS feels like. Suprisingly there was no slipping to work and from work to school where i’m at now. Hopefully it stays right for a bit so that i can put my money into other mods that i want done. Thanks again yall
