Getting a CEL flashing code 43. What other things in the system would gimmie that code? Just trying to narrow it down. TIA!
For me it was my O2 sensor (probably the most common ‘43’ cause), but other ‘43’ symptoms are vacuum hose leaks, low fuel pressure, etc… IMHO, I would check the fuel pump last.
Thanks man, thats kinda what I was thinking too, but someone said how many miles on your car? I told him and he said, with the way you drive…prolly the fuelpump. Something about the pump being cooled by the fuel, and if you ran around all the time with just putting in 5 bucks here and 2 bucks there was hard on the pump. News to me:confused:
Shea - Yeah, he is right about that low fuel thing. It is bad for the pump to have less than around a 1/4 tank in there…
Code 43 is usually the infamous O2 sensor though. It ends up that way about 99.9% of the time.

Thanks fellow HFL members! Guess its out to the partscar! I love that thing:)
how much will a fuel pump cost…should i upgrade? Very rarely do i put more than $5 in my car at a time, i better change that habit…and now my car won’t start sometimes and i can smell gas when i try to start it. How do i check the fuel pump or what else should i check and how do i check them? THanx
Integra Style - I am not really sure how much a new fuel pump costs, but if your trying to start your car and you can smell fuel when it wont start then it isnt the fuel pump.
You are probably in need of a serious tuneup if that is your problem. The main things to change out right now would be plugs, wires (if old), cap & rotor and fuel filter. That will help out a lot with your unsuccessful starts. You might want to check your coil too as it could be a coil and/or ignitor problem.
