Cold cranking issue

This morning it was about 5 degrees farenheit outside. I went to start the car and the first time I turned the key, I got power but no crank at all. There was no noise made at all. Second key turn starter cranked a little slow but actually turned the engine over.

I know my battery is a little old, had it since I got the car 3 years ago. Also the starter is the original one from what I can tell. I am running 10W30 oil.

Which is the most likely culpret, battery or starter? Is 10W30 too thick for this low of temperature?

I never have any problems except when it gets awful bitter cold.

oops I didnt mean to post it in General discussion. sorry.

Check your coolant. My coolant was frozen. If the coolant is frozen the motor will not crank. Also take your battery in to get it checked.
