I wished my motor was that clean!! Keep up the good work Steve!
Thanks for the compliments guys! No updates from today, did lots of running around related to fuel items and getting the wheels refinished, and cleaned up the transmission … not done with that yet though.
91TegGS: Self taught really, I’m sure alot of the guys (and girls) on this site will tell you the same … all you need is an OEM service manual and some courage!
The block/head are that clean because it was jet-washed and painted btw, head needs a little more paint though from the pics! haha.
how long did it take you to get the knowledge for the build ? iam going to do this myself soon
91TegGS: I’ve been tinkering with cars for a long time now, but basically ever since I have had my DA (10 years or so).
Not a whole lot done today, but some updates:
Pulled the LS trans off (going to use it until I find an S1)
Cleaned up the starter
Started on the trans
Painted the M/C, new grommet:
Distributor installed:
Got the wheels back from the chemical dip (will be painted soon)
New injectors installed!
Last batch order of parts will arrive in two weeks! Then she’ll be alive :burnout:
when its done you need to post a total cost. glad to see your cleaning on top of rebuilding.
What color will you be painting the wheels?
I dunno about the total cost thing, kind of afraid to see that number  .
Not 100% on the wheel color, but I am thinking flat/satin black. Opinions?

After being chemical-dipped, sand-blasted, and the lip machined: ($120)
3 layers of paint were removed, uuugliness!!
Lip painted:
Debated going silver/red:
