well did a compression test yestarday. i replaced the headgasket and had the head worked on about 500 miles ago. doesnt this seem kinda high?
- 220 2. 225 3. 225 4. 235
but i guess atleast its consistent

Looks great to me. That a B18A1?
b17
wtf im getting 160-165-160-160…b20b… is somthing wrong with mine?
isnt it if your car has a lower compression ratio, you will have lower compression results?
vise versa higher compression ratio = higher compression results?
b17 - higher comp = 200+
b20 - lower comp = 170’ish area?
yes, but it concerned me cuz somone asked if those numbers were from a b18, and I would think that a b20 should have nuber close to the b18, they have the same head, and the pistons are bigger bore, but I dont know what comp ratio pistions I have and what comp ratio pistons b18’s have…
i have a B18A and my comp was 165 across the board. comp should be 9.2-1 so is it in the range?
good results. mine are 210 210 210 210 stock b17
Did you take the plugs out one at a time or all at once? If you take them all out and then do the test you’ll get higher number. Oh and my b17 tested 215+/-5 across the board.
I just tested my b17 last night and got 210 on all 4 is that normal?
seeing as everyone else is getting around 200 - 215 across the boards for a b17, your 210 across sounds good aswell… it goes as long as they do not differ 30psi per cylinder they’re still good…
Wow, the Helm’s says the B17’s nominal compression is 184 psi. More the merrier!! :salute:
different testers will yield different numbers. I wouldn’t be concerned with the values too much. I would be more concerned with consistency of the numbers.
All the numbers posted look fine.
If you have higher compression than normal usually that means you have carbon build up which would yield higher compression readings. Correct me if Im wrong.
