Hey has anyone had a problem w/ the coolant in their resovoir dropping?? Mine is dropping about a quarter of an inch per day. I do not notice any leaking and my car isn’t overheating or anything. I’m hoping that it’s not a problem w/ the head gasket. What other reasons could it be for this to happen? thanks.
It’s still a mystery to me
hhmmm…
My friends, I too have that same problem. About a month ago my radiator was leakin, so I changed it and then had no problems for about a weak. Then, I started noticing that the coolant was dropping from the resevoir. But, I checked the coolant in the radiator and it stays the same level. And, I havent seen and leakage under the car. I was thinkin it could be a falty radiator cap. When we drive it could be sprayin steam because it is messed up and that would sorta explain the level dropping and not seein and leakage under the car. But, other than that, I have no idea.
Actually, I have only seen leakage ONCE durin this time, and it was comin from the passenger side real close to the fire wall. Isnt that sorta of the area of my heater core?? hhmm, quite a mystery.

Check your radiator cap. In the underside, check the rubber rings to see if they are cracked or worn.
I had that problem a few weeks ago. My res. tank would deplete but my radiator would still be full…then after driving for a little while the temp needle would be higher than normal. If the rings were worn or cracked, the cap can’t handle the pressure and it doesn’t make the cooling process not as effective (someone correct me if I’m wrong on this). I replaced the cap and everything is right on.
aight… thanks for your suggestions.
