Coolant leak at the corner of my oil pan where the pulleys are...

Hey guys, my car has been sitting for awhile for a turbo project and I was cranking the car over and I noticed antifreeze at the top corner of my oil pan leaking where the pullys are, but It looks like the leak starts at the oil pan because Its not leaking from up above. I dont think I have a cracked block because the car had antifreeze in it when it was sitting and it was garaged. It almost looks like the leake is coming out of my oil pan gasket but its a brand new gasket and its just coolant and no oil and I didnt notice any coolant in my motor when I replaced the pan gasket. I just dont get why im getting this leak now because It wasnt leaking before I started working on it. The only thing I can think of is its my water pump gasket… Any thoughts guys?

I would be checking the water neck that runs to the water pump in the back of the engine. And or the water pump/gasket. There would be something seriously wrong if you have clean coolant seeping through the oil pan gasket. Coolant leaks can be tricky to find.

cleaning the area completely and using a pump type pressure tester would help pin point

How old is the waterpump? I believe there is a small hole on the waterpump that can leak when it’s time for replacement. Is it possible it can be leaking from there and dripping onto the corner of the oil pan?

Its called a “weep hole” and as far as I know Honda water pumps have none. They are commonly seen on US V8’s ect. I would be looking to the WP gasket/water neck o-ring as well. Good luck.

I would be looking at the water pump, i think that the honda ones do have a weep hole as well.

Yeah, I have never seen a weep hole on a honda WP. Domestics have them. I found that out when my jeeps pump went out and coolant was pissing all over the road lol. I thought something was seriously wrong until I found out they had weep holes in failure design. GL any updates?

Thanks, I didn’t know what the actual name for it was. However, I took a walk over to my spare motor and Honda waterpumps do have one. It is located at an angle toward the rear of the motor, near the area that the drain plug would be on the oil pan. Also, it’s right next to the lower bolt that holds the waterpump on.

Thanks for the replies guys. Im pretty sure its the gasket or weep hole because I was able to see some coolant on the back of my crank pulley. So now I might as well put a new timing belt and gsr oil pump on it while its all apart. I also have another question too, when I try to start my car it doesnt crank over at all and all I hear is a click from under my dash which is my starter relay I believe. But when I jump the solenoid straight to the battery it cranks over and starts fine. So does that mean that my ignition, starter relay, or the clutch switch thing is bad?

since it “clicks”, it won’t be ignition. does the click come from behind the stereo bezel area?

Yea its behind the stereo bezel. So do you think its the relay or clutch pedal kill switch?

Make sure the clutch switch is hitting the plastic piece on the pedal. There is usually a greenish blue piece of plastic the clutch switch piston gets pressed by when you let your foot off of the pedal. So, if you get under the dash and fun your hand up the clutch pedal you will come to a point where it meets the switch piston. If the clutch switch piston is not hitting anything when the clutch pedal is in it’s starting position use your finger to push the switch in and turn the key with your hand (make sure your ebrake is engaged and you are not in gear). If the car starts you just need to place a bolt and nut on the pedal b/c the plastic piece broke (very common).

If the relay is clicking then I would think it’s working.
