Sorry if its been covered but i didnt see much in the search thread. Alright so my brother in law changed my coolent about 3 or 4 weeks ago becuase when he was driving my car to work he said the car was almost over heating. when we checked the reason there was no coolant in the reservoir and i believe not much in the radiator. so we topped it off. When i Checked the reservior today there was very little coolent in it.i dont think there are leaks on the car. Only one fasure is the cam seal. Anyone know what or may be the problem? Thanks in advance and MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!
How does your oil look? Does the car smoke out of the exhaust?
There’s white smoke coming from my car when it’s cold out. Doesn’t seem like there’s white smoke when the car is warmed up although I’ve seen white smoke come out while the car is warmed up to normal temp sometimes. And I have black some from my car when I drive hard. But I dont usually drive hard.
i would fill it up and then leave some paper bags under it over night to see if you got a slow leak and then if nothing the in the morning warm it up to see what you find something then if all that checks out then you might have a problem due to over heating like a bad head gasket
Thanks. Ill check it out when I’m back in the bay.
no problem merry christmas and keep us updated
i’d throw a pressure tester on it overnight. if you don’t notice any coolant on the ground, start it up. have a quick sniff of the exhaust. if it’s white and smells kind of sweet, like coolant, it’s leaking into the combustion chamber
a pressure test is a must, even a pin hole size leak in your radiator or hose will let enough coolant escape with out being noticed.
sounds to me like its being burnt off in which case your need to do a leakdown test on the motor to confirm that there is a leak in the headgasket seal.
