Cooling Fan Relay & Fog Lamp Relay...

So after several months of plugging/unplugging, forgetting to unplug & having to jump start my car, I finally sorted out my problem with the Cooling Fan staying stuck on. Went through what seemed like every single relay under the hood & finally found the right one. It’s located in between the battery and cooling fan near the Red & Yellow ABS harness plugs. As soon as I moved it, the fan was changing speed and then finally cut off. This relay was pretty warm to the touch compared to other relays on the car. Replaced it with another relay, fired up the car & turned the AC on and both fans turned on. Turned the car off & FINALLY, the fans turned off as expected! Will post a photo of bad relay for those who might be wondering what it looks like though I suspect that not every bad relay appears physically bad.

Now my second issue, wired up the fogs on my one piece headlamps and they worked for several weeks and then took a shit. I was thinking it was a relay issue since they both are out but without knowing what relay it is, I kept the lights on as I was swapping relays to fix my fan issue hoping that if I didn’t find a fan relay, i’d find the fog lamp relay. Well I had no luck. My wiring is solid so can anyone tell me what fuse the fogs are on and where the relay that’s dedicated to them is located?

Thanks in advance.

After very thirough searching, I’ve located the fuse for switch & fuse for fogs but still have no clue where the fog relay is located. Fuses are good Btw.

You could probably download the PDF of the manual from someplace, all the relay locations and wiring diagrams are there. This is a screen grab from the document reader:

The Fog relay is in the diagram, located next to the cabin fuses.

Thanks for sharing!

Finding and Removing Foglight Relay

You’re welcome. Please post what you find for other people.

Out of curiosity, I pulled the fuse box with the relay off my parts car (the whole car has to go soon, anyway). The relay is in the top-most row on the fuse box. I find it a challenge to work in that area. Maybe someone else with more experience can post some tricks.

The relays in that area are hidden under connectors and wiring. Fortunately, the fog relay is in a corner, so it looks like you only have to unplug that one 4-wire connector. First you have to find the latch on the wiring connector, press it in (toward the body of the connector), and pull the connector out, just to even see the relay properly.

The relay sits in a plastic socket with a clip on the top side that has to be pressed up carefully to release the relay. Then you can slide the relay out of the socket

The relay has a diagram on the side. Both the relay and the circuit can be tested using clip leads and 12V to see if they function correctly.
