Could it be my Timing Belt? SEVERE??

I have no problem starting the car, kicks over every time.
-Exhaust lightly pops and gurgles when i got over 2500 rpms
-Car lightly jerks while accelerating in lower gears
-When warm it idles strange, not fluctuating up and down at a constant rhythm, but kind of chills at 700, then randomly raises and dips like its losing power

How severe dos this sound?
I would like to add my check engine light randomly came on the other day, i turned off the car and hasnt came on since.

If your worried about the belt you should do a visual inspection as well as a deflection test but it sound more like a sensor or timing issue, I would take the time to clean them out. Do you have any vacuum leaks? Try adjusting your timing back to 14 before TDC with the distributor.

Confirm valve timing is correct, it may have jumped a tooth.

Check ign. timing.

Check fuel pressure.

When was the last time fuel filter was changed?

Redo the main grounds to eliminate them as the possible problem, DO NOT just eyeball the grounds, disconnect/clean/reconnect. 94

Thanks for the suggestions i will get at that in the morning!
Well i recently bought this car, the guy before me had just taken it to the mechanic before i bought it. At the shop they replaced the alternator, battery and drive belt. At the bottom of the page from the mechanic it says they recommend a timing belt kit at $500

Definitely do it yourself if you’re hands-on with cars. Save some cash.

My car had similar symptoms when it skipped a tooth on the timing belt, especially the idle issue.

To check mechanical timing you’ll just need to pull the valve cover and turn the engine over by hand using the crank pulley bolt.

Awesome thanks for the help, I am handson with cars but im a noob lol, ill definitely be searching some youtube tutorials lmao hopefully i dont mess anything up

Changed out to spark plugs and cleaned the pcv and now it runs like a champ!
Feels like a new car :burnout::burnout:
