The clock in my 93 teg continuously counts up the hours.
I’ve checked the fuses under the dash and it was fine.
Aside from it maybe being the fuses under the hood affecting the clock memory, how would I go about removing the clock if i have to replace it?
Gotta remove whole dash panel? or is there a better way to get the clock out minus the hassle
there could be stuff stuck under the hour button making it think your holding it down. to pull the clock out you just need a flat head screw driver with some duck tape over the head so it doesn’t tear up the dash and pop the clock out.
what causes this to happen. I had a buddy whose CRX did the same thing. Is the ecu in a certain mode or something?
Sounds to me like the button might be stuck.
thanks guys
I checked the fuses under the hood too and they are all fine
so it must be something with the clock
i will try popping it out tomorrow and let you guys know what was causing it
Ok so i checked. The button isn’t stuck.
I figured out another piece of diagnostic wonder. The clock only counts up when the car is ON/running
if just the power is turned on the clock is fine, but once you turn the engine on the clock counts 9,10,11,12,1,2,3,4,etcetcetc in an endless loop of passing hours
wtf?
maybe the clock is counting down til the car last breath :naughty:
LoL
too bad the hours is counting UP not down smart ass lol
just get another clock if u dont’ actually wanna bother checking it fully. like taking the whole clock out, checking wiring, the pins, the buttons, the contacts, the soldering, etc. just for the heck of it, u should prolly check the voltage of ur battery, and see also how much ur alternator is putting out in terms of voltage. is usually the first thing anybody should check when it relates to electrical issues.
still no real answers to what is going on here? this is weird. i’ve seen it happen before too.
clock is fried, buddy. time and condensation, makes the tin used to solder the connections to ‘sweat’, causing a short cut. if you open the clock and look at the motherboard, you’ll notice a brownish sap.
i had the same problem and tried to fix it by carefully cleaning it, to no avail.
