How the hell do I remove the Crank Pulley, everytime I turn the bolt, the whole crank spins and on the other side there is a disc that spins (engine stupid!)
I need to know how to rip the crank off, So i can get the rest of the engine in pieces…One of my friends said you don’t need to remove the bolt, just take a Pry Bar to it and pry the damn thing off, wont that damage the motor?
someone lemme know whats up with this cause this engine is inside my room, and I think im losing brain cells from the smell of the Fuel and Oil
Just playin…but on the real…someone lemme know…late
I had that exact problem, but with the eng. in the car. I had no choice but to hit the bolt head on with a solid hammer and eventually it loosened up the bolt. Idiot before me put so much loctite on the damm thing!!! But since you have the eng. out you can try removing the sump and place the engine on TDC No1 and jam a piece of solid wood between the crank and block then you should have no problem undoing the bolt:D
i know a better way! if you have the tranny off and flywheel off place two bolts on opposite ends on the flywheel side. place a large metal bar, strong stick, large heavy duty screw driver ectectect… between the two bolts. now when you go to turn your pulley bolt the object you put inbetween those bolts is holding the pulley so it can’t move. My friends and i use a very large breaker bar on the pulley side and it came off with ease.
i used the two bolt method and had the big bar on a table so when i loosened the boltthe bar would be stuck on the table. when in desperate times think ghetto…

very easy to do. [/B]
WHAT SIZE ARE THOSE BOLTS THAT GO ON THE FLYWHEEL SIDE?!?!?!?
First off, dont ever listen to that friend on car advice again. The way most people loosen the bolt is with an impact gun. Go to a loaner store and see if you can borrow an electric impact gun. If not then there is a flywheel holder that latches onto the teeth of the flywheel and holds it. can get them thru summit racing.
While taking the crank pulley off or Ryan’s b17a. Ryan was struck in the nuts using the breaker bar method. It’s much easier using the Moroso crank pulley removal/install tool. I think it’s like $60.
i have had to take that thing off to many times to count that is the biggest pain in the butt… i use a chain wrench and put it around the pully then let the bar go under the body of the car and use a torque wrench to get the bolt off… sometimes it leaves little knicks on the pully if u dont mind that its an easy way to get if off better then having to take the tranny off and all that stuff… hope that helps someone
IN ORDER TO GET THE PULLEY OFF, I will need to LOOSEN that BOLT that is holding it in correct? The only way to get that bolt off is to hold the other side somehow while turning the bolt?
I heard this **** is on at 180 lbs, that is a lot, you figure your tires are torqued at what? 75 lbs, that more than double…so Im guessin its tight as hell right?
mine was on like a biatch! took 2 peeps on each breaker bar! then josh cam up with an idea after the breaker bar sliped out my hand into my nuts:shock: damn that hurt!
d that problem the way i fixed it was i went to a shop with the engine in my trunk and the shop got it lose with a big impact gun. the tool that honda sells is a ring gear holder it is part number
0724-pd20003 or pd20002 good luck it holds the flywheel is place so u can get the bolt lose with a breaker bar
