crappy gas mileage

i have no idea wats wrong wit my 1990 gs…
i recently had a tune up done… cap rotor plugs wires
and i changed the o2 sensor but i get 150 miles to 10 gallons…
in the city… i dont drive the car hard at all… can anyone
tell me what could be causeing this problem?

is the timing ok?

i believe so… performance is not bad at all…
no hesitation… if i didnt reset the odometer everytime i
filled up i wouldnt of noticed the problem…

i have same problem, well sorta, last tank i got 250 though thats a 1st

check your tire pressure(what it was part for me)
PCV valve 2-3 bucks

i see everyone here posting about how bad their 250miles/tank is
i wish i could get that high lol… anyways where is this pvc valve? wat does it look like? ill change it as soon as i find out… thanks for ur help guys

the PCV valve is located between the 1st and 2nd injectors i think, just behind the engine block. between the throttle body and the engine block, actually.
It’s attached to a thin (1/4") rubber hoes, and the PCV valve itself is a right-angled piece of hard plastic, sometimes it’s blue in colour. It points forward, and then bends down to the ground. the part itself is small.

You may be best to get a new one first (obviously), and look for a similar part in the area I mentionee above.

Good luck!
Oh, and to test the PCV valve, take it off, and shake it. if it rattles, it’s fine. if it does not rattle, it’s toast.

Try replacing the air and fuel filters. Also reset the ECU. Once I did a bad valve adjustment and my mileage dropped drastically, try adjusting them.

thanks for all your help guys… im gonna try the
pcv valve and then the valve adjustment…
btw does anyone know why when my engine is
at idle it doesnt sound smooth? it makes some clicking
noises, rapping of some kind… u know… its that sound
that comes from old engines  sorry for the weak explaination
but im new to cars…
one more thing… i already replaced the air filter (ebay short intake) and the oil has been changed recently along with the filter… once again thanks for all your help guys

Either ticking valves, or noisy injectors – these are the usual suspects with this symptom. Try running some injector cleaner through on the next few fill ups. If this doesn’t work, you may want to ge a valve adjustment done, as this will likely fix both your mileage problem, and your ticking problem.

Try these out.
