Cross Drilled Rotors

I have cross drilled rotors front and back with OEM pads. When braking, my car shakes. Can you turn cross drilled rotors like normal rotors? Will it damage the bit on the brake turning machine? Has anyone tried this or had it done? Was there any problems?

I bet they’re warped

Yeah, I just had my cross-drilled rotors “resurfaced”. Nobody would or could turn them. Acura dealer said “no way” and offered to sell me OEM rotors for $105 each. NAPA said they couldn’t do em either but sent me to a machine shop that could do them on a grinder type machine for $20 each. They’re great now. Call around to automotive machine shops.

They should be able to be turned, if the machine shop knows what they’re doing. You just have to be careful with feeds and speeds when you go to turn a slotted/drilled/etc. rotor. I’ve never actually turned a slotted/drilled rotor, but I have turned down assorted faceplates/backing plates and such that all had various large slots and holes in them, and were at least the same size as rotors, and I’ve had no trouble doing so. Also, before paying or sending them out to have them turned, have a mechanic check to see if they’re even warped, it could be some other problem, like a sticking caliper or something. It’s quick to check to see if they’re true with a dial indicator, so pretty much any mechanic ought to be able to check them, or you can check them if you have a dial indicator.

how many months before the shaking starts? just had mine installed last week and wondering when will mine start to shake again.
