cruise control

Someone please help! I can’t figure out why my cruise stopped working. I really like having it since I don’t have any other luxury items on my car. All the sensors at the pedals seem to be fine. I don’t have a clue what’s wrong and I don’t want to take it to acura. The power is still going to the actual unit under the hood. Thanks for any help.

check if there’s signal from the buttons on the steering wheel to the brain… if i remember right it’s a negative trigger, so set the meter to 20V DC (or whatever range yours has around that) then probe the wires while pushing the buttons - if it is working, the voltage will drop, if not there’s your problems. not a huge pain to fix luckily - take off the steering wheel (1 big bold behind centre cap- and clean the traces with a white eraser, then using a q-tip or toothpick aplly a little di-electric grease. also clean the contacts on the steering wheel with the eraser too. - worked for me.

  thanks man, I was in the process of removing the steering wheel to check the switch. I took it apart and cleaned it a long time ago, so hey maybe that’s the problem! 20V? I’ll try that tomorrow and hope for the best. Other options still available, but this one really sounds like it could work.

Ok the switch works, but the actual unit only had 1 volt going to it. I didn’t use the grease on it cause it seemed to be working, but I’ll take it apart again tomorrow and grease it up. ANy other ideas?

bump, still not working.

Does the horn work? Do the brake lights work?

The switches are positive trigger. They are supplied by a backfeed through the horn. If horn does work the cruise won’t work. Fuse 37 underhood feeds the horns and brake light switch

Yeah both of them work. If the horn works the cruise won’t work??? I don’t understand, so what should I do to fix it? Thanks for help.

Sorry, missed the ‘not’. Should have been ‘If the horn does not work…’.

I assume when you turn on the power switch, the light turns on.

Check the cruise unit under the dash. Check for 12v when steering wheel buttons are pressed on the lt green/red and lt green/black wires.

Did you do anything to the car before the cruise stopped working?

I’ll try that tomorrow. The only thing I can think of is the fact I left the oil cap of like a dumbass when I was on a trip. Oil soaked the bay, but I don’t know if that had anything to do with the cruise not working. Thanks for the help fellas. I’ve been wanting to fix this problem, but I was slacking before. Now that I really want to figure out why this shit isn’t working.

my cruise control stopped workin out of nowhere too…i haven’t taken apart my steering wheel to check anything and when i was adjusting my throttle cable tension (auto tranny) i adjusted it a little where the cruise control module is but didn’t really do anything…it was working just fine for a while and then one day it didn’t…my horn still works and the switch lights up it just won’t initiate the cruise control

I’Ve got a cruise problem too

I push the cruise switch, it turns green. OK
I push the SET steering button, wont work
I push it about tirty times and it will work!!
But while i’m cruising, maybe 2-3 minutes, it will disengage, D’oH

please if anyone has any help…i have the same problem…!!! cruise switch lights up green, horn works, brake lights work… is there possibly a problem with the clutch pedal switch? doesnt the cruise diengage if you put the clutch in?
