I’ve decided to pick up a Cometic .078" head gasket to give myself a small margin of error.
PCT in a P72 block would be even more extreme than a P61 right?

yah due to the lack of combustion chamber in the b18c1 head Duy.
Bwahahaha… high compression
.0050"!!! That’s a TON!!! Usually to clean the surface of the deck it’s milled .0005"-.0010". Man I would definitely pull that head off and clay for clearances. I would be checking your valve relief clearances as well. Make sure to lock your VTEC rockers when doing this. It’s a known fact that the PCT pistons sit a little higher in the B17A blocks already, the .0050" off of your deck certainly isn’t helping that issue. Out of curiousity, what was your piston-deck clearance? Call me if you have any qeustions. Always willing to help.
The .25mm overbore PCT’s in the P72 setup will yield 12.1:1 CR. That is exactly what I have in my setup.

yup ive got them in mine and ive calculated 12.3 w/ stock headgasket, no mill or deck. ctr pistons in b17a’s pop out of the cyl bores about 0.01 i believe. so they have a negative piston to deck clearance
OK, just got off the phone with the machine shop. The owner said that he took .006" off the deck, not .050". Sounds like I’m good to go!
 how did you calculate 12.3, I always thought PCT’s in B17 was 11.4 cr…
make me wonder, cause I have a similar setup
No way PCT’s = 11.4 CR.
So you are saying six one thousandths not fifty thousandths right? Why did you think he had taken off .050"?
Yeah, six one thousandths of an inch off. I don’t know why I was thinking he said fifty thousandths.
He said that the service limit was fourty thousandths and that if he had to go that far, he would have called me to get a new block.
OK, time to toss that puppy in and test it out. Oh and lets start talking in metric, I have no concept of how big 1/1000 inch is. :bang:
Me either Nino, I had to break out a conversion chart to find out that .050 was a bit more than 1mm.
Smokin!!! good to go buddy
HAHAHA, these last few posts are phenominal!
thanx guys, and looookin great Du !!!
Without Scott, Vern, Brandon, and Schu, this project would never have gotten to where it is. I’m hoping to swap in a couple of weeks.
ahhwww, I’ll be glad to take some time off from la familia
if you need some help brother.

wait till he finds all the loose nuts and bolts I slipped in his crank case when he wasn’t looking ![]()
PCT’s in a b17 with an 81mm bore will get you a whopping 11.36:1 CR
PCT’s in a b17 with an 81.25mm bore will get you 11.41:1 CR
Use this link for reference, it is a very good compression calculator…
