My car is currently on Tokico blues with skunk2 sleeves. I’ve never driven it. I’m still in the process of putting it together as most of you have probably seen in my build thread. Just curious if I should look into a different suspension set up than what I have.
What would everyone say is their favorite set up on the da? I’ve personally had ebay suspension, ZEAL, PIC, AST5100’s, Koni/GC, and now a daily driven si with stock struts and skunk2 springs. So I have had a lot of different stuff.
AST5100’s were my absolute favorite but it doesn’t seem they make anything for Honda. I hated zeal, PIC, and ebay. I did enjoy my koni GC set up quite a bit.
All this being said, I am going to be cruising pretty low, not super slammed or anything like that but I’d like to tuck a bit of tire. I’m not gonna be racing the car every weekend, I may go down the 1/4 once and other than that just cruise with the occasional windy road. So I don’t want something super stiff. :sucks:
I’m probably unloading too much information here but I also wanna say,
I have always been big on “You get what you pay for” so it is just my assumption that the KW’s, Teins, or something else is going to be better than what I have now. But then at the same time, my koni/gc set up was about $900 when I bought it with top hats, and I thought it was way better than my PIC’s that cost 1300. But I understand that could also have a lot to do with the spring rates chosen, ect.
Anyways, help me out here guys. Lets have an honest discussion.
I’m currently sitting on Tein Super Street coilovers now but will be changing them sometime this year in favor of Function and Form Two.5s with aggressive spring rates.
I had a set of the ITR KW type1’s on my DB1 less than a year ago but it’s hard to say how they were since the perches were seized and one shock was blown. I bought them used and never really knew much about them and took them off to run a different set up while I was going to have them rebuilt. I acquired a koni/GC set up that I’m going to run instead but I didn’t really have any complaints even with one blown and leaking fluid. I couldn’t get the car at the right ride level I wanted since the perches were seized. I figured I could cut the perches off and just buy new ones from a dealer.
I wish I could have offered some advice but I’m interested in hearing what others may have to say in regards to this, since you’ve had so many other setups including one of the tried and tested setups haha. I was curious about those tein ss for my car though they are out of my budget lol. stupidly as it sounds, since we can use dc2 suspension with the exception of the drop forks, I thought about saving for these http://www.clubintegra.com/store/st-suspension-coilovers_mp349.html (which are made by KW and are apparently like the v1 which I kinda feel is not 100% true due to price difference) and getting dc2 drop forks and seeing how they ride. but, they only drop as low as 2.8"f and 2.0"r which is good for me I think lol because it’s my dd. not meaning to thread jack just trying to get the discussive(not a word) juices flowing.
it’s also Ironic how I was just looking at PICS. which ones did you have the apex or select? I’m assuming select since they were 1300.

I had the selects. I hated them. I think the spring rates were way too hard though. Rode like the car had solid suspension lol. And for whatever reason when I raised the car up the rear wouldn’t go that high, I could not achieve wheel gap.
haha dang man that sucks, solid suspension though. I’ve always heard good things about the variant 1’s from the bmw guy’s . I’m sure they can go low for that price tag but you might as well get the 2’s because the fact you have the ability to adjust the dampening since it’s only couple hundred dollars if you want to have that ability. in to these on a second gen fasho! I swear I follow you on instagram if not im gonna. I’m pretty sure you have the s14
I actually sold the s14 but yeah that was me. I’d like to try those out. I may buy them even if no one has a review lol
CRX suspension works on our cars right???
yeah I’ve read that they will be slightly shorter and in turn lower your car a little more.(if any one else know more feel free to add.) But your talking about the kw’s right? that will be sick man haha I’m definitely interested in seeing someone on this suspension setup:rockon:. and about the 240, did you have enough of “dat drift life?” hahaha
I enjoyed the car but it was super slow and I didn’t wanna dump any money into it to make it somewhat reasonable. But yeah I’m strongly considering this set up.
