curious about my engine

i blew the motor in my 90 LS and replaced it with a 91 LS engine. The place where i got it from, the guy said that the car he got the engine from had speed and that the guy who owned it before it got wrecked was a racer. I checked out the car and it seemed pretty much stock except for the body kit. When I finally got the engine dropped in my car and took it for a test drive, i noticed it seemed to have more power to it, and the guy who helped me put it in said the same thing after he drove it. Is there a way I can find out if there was anything added or swapped in to make the car faster??? With my first engine, the car seemed to be a little sluggish when i get up to 80-85, but now I can get up to 115 and the car doesn’t seem to struggle at all.

I’m starting to suspect that either some higher compression pistons were swapped in or something was done to the head. Or maybe it’s all in my head and I’m just imagining all this.

Your older engine might have had weak compression. It is really hard to say if something was changed without knowing your motor inside and out. I dont think it is really worth pulling apart the motor to find out either. Just go get it dynoed and see how much power your making.

thanx for the input. i kinda thought something like that was the case, my older engine had about twice as many miles as my new one does.

That could definately do it…
