So I installed some Innovative mounts the other day and I was wondering if anyone could tell me waht this part was that i saw. It’s behind the block under the intake. It’s a black box about 5-6 inches tall and about 4 inches wide. It’s wrapped in a rubber sleeve and has two rubber hoses coming off the top going to the intake manifold i believe. The hoses were hard to see. Is it a fuel vapor canister? Or part of the coolant system? It is secured with 2 10mm bolts on the large T-shaped bracket on the back of the motor. Just curious of its purpose bc mine looked slightly damp at the bottom of it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
it gos to the PCV valve and then to the intake, its part of the emissions junk… do not remove it, you will have a baaaaddd vacume leak, trust me i know.
its this an automatic transmission your talking about? a pictured would help. could be the fuel filter from the way you descibe it.
It’s a 5spd. The fuel filter is on the passenger side and this box is tucked under the center of the intake manifold. I thought it was some kind of emission junk but wasn’t sure. I didn’t know if the slightly saturated bottom was bad or could cause a vacuum leak? I wasn’t sure if you could bypass it and connect the hoses? But as bad as the pvc systems are on these cars I didn’t want to delete a necessary part of the system. Thanks for the replies guys
dont take it off that the black box the pvc goes to
I misread the original post, it sounded as if placement was on the firewall. cortney’s right on the money with the breather box.
Thanks guys. I like to know as much as possible about my car and this has really helped!
Are you just learning about your car? I just picked up my first car/teg last month. Still learning the basic concepts of everything. Also trying to learn about every part of my car.
