cusco products

I got to thinking after posting in this thread
http://www.g2ic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=186318
what type is my bar and is it real? so i contacted a north american distributor and this is what was said:

hello,
I noticed you are a cusco distributor for north america. I have a question concerning the authenticity of my rear cusco upper strut bar. I purchased it privately from a local party who claimed he purchased it from hmotorsonline.com I just wanted to see if it is in fact an actual cusco bar as i have never seen it before. His car was a crx and after purchasing it i put it in a 90-93 DA integra. Thank you for any and all information you can give.

Robert,

From looking at the pictures, it appears that you have the Rear AS style strut bar. From looking at the sticker, this strut bars appears to be an older model but is very similar to the current strut bars. Also, I do warn you that there are knock off models out there so please be careful of buying used parts.

Is there any way to be certian if this is a knock off part? would you happen to know the difference between the older and newer model? I appreciate your quick response, it was a lot faster than i had expected. thank you,

Robert,

With that style strut bar, Cusco doesn’t have any engravings or etching on the bar so the only reference I’m going with is the sticker. The only difference between the older and the newer is just the sticker. The newer styles have a “Cusco Racing” sticker. There isn’t a difference in design of the actual strut bar.

so can anyone shed some light on this? I looked up the rear AS style and it doesn’t look like mine at all. So my question remains, what style bar is it and is it in fact a cusco bar?

i have the same bar as you do. its authentic.

any proof? know what style it is?

i bought mine from a trusted member/friend. mine looks exactly like yours down to the color, welds and the bends in the brackets except i don’t have a cusco sticker on mine but it does have a small white label close to the end on it that is faded but has japanese characters on it.

and i believe it is the AS style bar, what makes you think it is not an AS bar, the DA never got bars with ends that were fully closed.

I’m not saying i don’t think it’s a AS type strut bar in the sense that AS from cusco means Alluminum Shaft. I believe it is made of an alluminum shaft but it is completely different from all AS strut bars from them on the web.

I know there are numerous knock off companies out there that will copy ANYTHING to make a buck. It just scares me a little that a distributor of the company would tell me the only way to tell its authenticity is a sticker. I have found no other information on this bar anywhere even in back catalogs. I guess i’m just looking for a little more reassurance than a small handful of peoples’ word on it.
