I just want to share my custom cooling plate for my integra.
What do you guys think?
Never really understood these? Hot air rises doesnt it? Please can you get temps of the engine with the hood shut, withand without the cooling plate after a good amount of driving. Also control the expirement with time and rpm levels.
It helps the cool air to focus on cooling down the header where without it, the air tend to escape upward and can cause the hood to heat up.
No, the idea is to close up the small gap between the radiator and the radiator support, theoretically directing more air through the radiator core. The temperature of the hood is irrelevant, and any air hitting the header will be warm, not cool.
I don’t think I’ve seen one extend back as far as yours…

This is correct. The concept is that you need to close any paths around the radiator so that any air that comes in thru the grill is forced thru the radiator instead of around it. The goal is NOT to cool the header.
The “cooling plate” pictured here doesn’t look like it’ll do anything at all to help direct air into the radiator. Theoretically the area you’d want to cover would be the area between the headlights (where the hood latch is) to prevent air from coming in thru the grill and then upwards over the radiator support. But I think the stock design on the DA is plenty good, I haven’t seen anyone need any sort of add-ons to direct air properly unless they had a half size radiator.
nice design and idea… you should get someone with an fd rx7 and make something like this. it would sell very well…
This more of looks then anything. Almost done I added the cover for the latch.
I hope this design will add the look and the functionality of it.
