UPDATE and SMALL WRITE UP.
lol sorry guys havnt had time to post anything
anyway
here is how its sitting now with my new 16’s i picked up
what i did for the skirts>
its a 2 person job
first thing my friend was holding the back flush with the rear arch of the wheel well.
i was at the front with a air cutting wheel. i cut off about 7 - 8 inches
after that it was just trimming till it fit around the front mud flaps
then spent some time sanding it down with 120 grit to get rid of the clear that was on it. used filler primer and wet sanded it with 800 and 1000 till it was smooth, then grabbed a can of black paint and clear coat.
since i work at a shop part time, i had use of a hoist
hoisted the car up with 2x4’s under each arm so when i lift the car up i hav room to move the skirt around while mounting it.
i used self tapping screws and ran in 5 screws for each side.
also the lights im looking for a good set of jdm one peices.
also i put in yellow fog bulbs makes it look alot better. i dont use the halo’s
More New Pics Posted.
Restoring a set of JDM one peices so going to be getting rid of the projectors soon.
Bvan and myself went down to the junk yard today…free parts weekend.
(with a 50$ entrence fee)
i got these side skirts that i thought might work…so got them back to the shop started trimming and getting it to right length. planning on keeping the front mudguards on.
this is just a test fit after some small trimming.
also just curious what you all think on these skirts?
Lol pickaparts are $2 entry down here, but parts are pretty cheap. The only problem is you can never really get sideskirts because they set cars on the mounting points. They look pretty decent, but it seems like none of the sideskirts that I have seen really fit that well when you see them in person. Here real soon I am going to make some fiberglass sideskirts for my four door. I am just going to make a mold of the rocker panel and then build up off of that.
Chevy Malibu…there was a teg at the yard so jus took off random skirts and held it up to the teg and chose wat i liked :)
funny, a couple weeks ago i was wondering if it wasn’t a waste of time making those sideskirts fit in a da… they do look good… liking it, yes.
well good luck with the fiberglass b sure to post it up i would really like to see how it comes out.
lol you were wondering about the malibu aswell??..it will mount on fairly easy but trimming it to fit with the front guards is kinda tricky
once i get it right the skirt has a flat pannel that will go right along the body so im just gona get some 3m tape or self taping screws and run it in.
also the back end of the skirt sits almost perfectly with the rear wheel well.
ill mostlikely continue work on monday so once i get it done right ill post up some more pics.
I’m still not getting over the fact that you have to pay $50 for the entrance fee… that’s just a plain rip off! For that much… you’re going to see me try to push a couple of cars out the entrance lol :squint:
LOL i no wat ur sayin bro lol…but still managed to walk ou twith alot of stuff. seats, lip, front re-bar. and couple of other things.
plus the cars dont have wheels unless u bring one of those guys from worlds strongest man … good luck pushing the cars out :P…plus u gota carry the parts in ur hands
