Custom LED Tail Lights

I’ve been thinking of doing some custom LED tail lights. I searched on this site and h****-t***.com but I wasn’t able to find anyone who’s done the conversion. I saw g3 with them done and it looked pretty dope.

This is what I was thinking.

I was going to buy an extra set so I can have a stock set if I get tired of these.

I was also thinking of giving them a super light smoke tint.

Feedback…

id say go for it… ive never seen it done on a 2nd gen either. there are tons of resources over at hidplanet.com if you want to tackle something like this.
i wanted to try this project out but i have many other things going on at the same time

another thing you would also have to consider is that we have dual filament bulbs for brake and running lights one way i seen it successfully done is with pulse width modulators or PWMs

i say only do it if u can get the large LEDs that will emulate how 370z/g37’s look. those led’s look too small and ricey, and obviously off center

Those are actually just photo shopped in, well in fact I used Microsoft Paint :giggle:, just to get an idea of what it might look like.

I agree, go for it. Just don’t get super small LED’s

I like the idea and am currently planning a set myself however its no small task. You do not want to use those premade led strips as they won’t be bright enough at all. You will want to use quality leds like superflux just like oem manufacturers use if you want them to last any time at all. I would start by doing a ton of research on hidplanet. There are lots of finished projects to gather info and learn from in the led section.

Yeah your going to run into issues with your local law enforcement, of they’re not bright from a good 300 feet distance then it’s not worth it.
And it’s not really safe either.

how’s it not safe? i assume you havent taken a look at some of the projects people have done on hidplanet yet.

LEDs last longer than halogen bulbs and many oem car manufacturers are switching to them for lighting.
i guess some people prefer the dim stock tail lights.

Considering all new cars have LED taillights, If done right, I’m sure they will be more than bright enough.

IM gonna start a thread. On my custom led tail lights.
