Me and a friend of mine were about to start putting some of these together to put up for sale, i will post pics of the one we have in his car already just so you can see what you would be getting if interested, we can do 8, 10, or 12in sub, just have to specific and also can specify the color you would like us to make it for you, but that will prolly come at an extra cost, we were thinking the price will prolly be around 150-200 without shipping. This is all quality, my friend makes these outtah fiberglass, would, and bondo, he is also a car audio installer and has done some show winning trunks in the midwest, if you would like pics of some of the award winning trunks just lemme know.
post em, i may be interested.
$150- $200 + shipping for an all fiberglass ported enclosure? How many layers? What kind of resin? Bondo’ed sanded and painted or viynled? Or what?
How much for a 5.25ft^3 net, 64in^2 of port, tuned to 31hz, , 8 layers braced with rope and dowel rods, bondo’ed and painted gloss black or covered in textured vinyl?
How much for 4.1ft^3 net, 49in.^2 of port, tuned to 32 hz, made from 3/4" MDF, bondoed and viynled?
How much for each of those shipped to 85233?

man…lay off…don’t have to get all technical…you sound like you already know enough so just do it yourself…
btw no one would do that for 150-200…you know that, these are simple boxes that just look (and sound) a little better.
Post pics of your show work. Who have you done work for? Have they won any shows as a result of your work? If so, post them with pics of their trophies along with what event it was from and what place in what category.

How was that technical? If you know about what you are doing…then it isn’t technical in the least. It sounds to me that you have no idea what you’re doing.
How do they “sound” better? Please tell me how your boxes sound better then everyone elses.
Do you plot thier sub. Any good box builder does. What program do yo use?
How many boxes have you done?
Do you have up close pics of the boxes uncarpeted? Any at the seams?
Howare they constructed? What materials are used? What kind of glass, resin, wood, carpet, carpet, paint, what you use to attach the carpet , what you use to seal, viynl, etc.
Specs can be found at www.adireaudio.com Plot me a vented and a sealed enclosure for a Brahma 10. I want loud SQL and a lot of tactile impact. Please include port area, tuning, gross airspace, net airspace, port displacement, driver displacement, bracing displacement, QTC, etc. Don’t forget the link with the different graphs showing the slopes and group delays that will achieve what I’m looking for.
Shipping should be about $50-$75, so they will be the same or more expensive then a local shop. The local shop will most likelly stand behind thier work as well. If you do stand behind your work, who will pay the $100 to ship it both ways to get it fixed?
If you actually know what you are doing, then you will know the answers to all of my questions and be able to give me a link to
the graphs. If not…you don’t know what you are doing and will be ripping off everyone you sell these boxes too.
I look forward to your radical new design to make my sub sound better then everyone elses boxes and the detailed box specs for the b10.
Thanks a lot
ok…I know what I’m doing…I make one post and it doesn’t sound like I know what I’m doing??? You make assumptions too soon. Now…I am not bragging…and I know there are a lot of people out there that can do better custom installs than I can
And about them sounding better…I am talking about most pre-fab boxes out there…not something you would make. I don’t use any program…I find out the specs of the sub and then the specs of the enclosure…sealed or ported.
I use evercoat resin…mdf…attach it with either by staples or with glue. I either use wood glue or silicone to seal the boxes…and always use contact cement to get carpet/vinyl/etc. to stay on the box itself.
Damn…I’m a person like anyone else…my friends saw the box and what I do, and said it looked good. I wouldn’t want to make “crap” for people…I would want to make something that I would want in my car.
BTW…heres a link with some pics…

the white prelude was my first major trunk…its not done in the picture but it looks ok.
well that trunk looks pretty damn good to me, so now that were done with this pointless bitching and bickering why dont we get back to the point of “selling” these enclosures.
hehe…Adamm, you are too much… I fully understand your concerns, it make sense, most guys that are making fibreglass enclosures do plot the sub before building, and I’d hope they were using rods if the box is purely fibreglass.
5th Gen: Adamm means no harm, he is just very precise with his words, so he doesn’t have to keep clarifying. Anyways, how many layers of fibreglass do you use? Do you have a 2nd Generation Integra that you can make molds off of?
Let’s not get angry with each other, it’s not worth it, we are all here for the same reason. Fibreglass can be a tricky material to work with, and I have personally seen great looking boxes, but they sounded like crap because the walls were flexing due to poor construction (which is basically death for sub bass). That is why most boxes are MDF, to prevent flexing, it is a concern of quality for the money, that’s it.
Good work, 5thGen, very nice and clean.

I have to admit, your glass work looks excellent.
But if you don’t graph boxes, then they will sound at best good unless you get lucky. No matter what they look like, they won’t be any better then good if you don’t graph them.
How many layers do you use?
It still seems to me that you know very little about enclosures besides construction…other wise you would graph them.
You can get a box made for cheaper or the same price locally. Do you stand behind your work? If I buy a box and there is a leak…will you pay for shipping both ways and fix it for free?
Not to mention this is the wrong forum and there is no selling here :).
Essence is correct. I’m not angry, it just seems to me that if you know enought to glass…you would know enough to plot. Looks of an enclosure have nothing to do with performance.
