D2? TEIN? or Omni Power coilovers?

These 3 brands of coilovers I have been looking at for my car. The D2’s go for around 750 and so the TEIN basics, as far as the omni ones the cheapest I have found so far is 650. I dont really know which ones I wanna go with. I searched around the forum and found out that the omni are stiffer than the tein but there is no threads or reviews on the D2’s so I know nothing about them. I kind of want to go with the Omni but from what I have heard they are a knock off brand and I dont want to pay more than 500 for a knock off brand coilovers. So what should I do? Has anybode riden or has had D2’s on their car, and if they have what were they like?

What are you going to be using your car for? Racing or daily driving?

Mostly for daily driving but I want a stiff suspention because there is some curvy roads deep in the forests that I know that I like taking, but right now I cant really take them fast because my stock ones are blown.

As far as I know D2, OmniSport, Ksport, etc are all knock-off brands.

D2 is? Didnt know that. So what should I go with, because I want the full coilovers not just the ones that are springs and you put on your stock shocks?
I’m at a point where I will go with pretty much anything that is pretty stiff.

Koni Yellows + Ground Control coilovers + GC Koni adapters. Total cost is about 800-900.

The Teins are pretty soft from what I’ve heard, and who the hell needs 16 adjustments. Teins (for the DA) are a joke IMO, but they might be what you want.

They worked well for me for about 2 years of national level autoxing. Of course I had my rears revalved and upped the springs from 5K to 10K. The 9K front/5K rear springs that the Teins come with might be perfect for someone like this who is using the car for 99% daily driving. That’s just my opinion though.

I’d agree with Nino about the Tein’s being good for street driving out of the box.

yeah, but for about the same price you can get the koni/ground controls and they will outperform the tein SS.

I doubt he’ll have his rears revalved, so IMO they’re still a joke. But to quote myself “they might be what you want.” :nana:

Have you done testing to prove this, or are you basing it off of someone elses opinions?

The only benefit that I see in the Koni/GC for the casual street driver over the Tein SS is the ability to choose the spring rate out of the box. This benefit depends on the buyer choosing the right spring rate combination for their car. Being a causual driver, they won’t know a good rate from a bad one.

Aside from that, both dampers are rebuildable/revalvabled, adjustable, and accept standard race springs (2.5" for the Koni and 60mm for the Tein). Koni has better support in the US which is advantageous for both consumer and racer alike. One can send a broken Koni to a number shops around the country for rebuilding or take it to the Koni van attends some of the national level events. As far as I know, you can only send a Tein damper to Tein for repair. I have yet to see a Tein support truck at a race event offering rebuild/repair/dyno services.

If I had to buy coilovers for a street car, I’d run EG/DC front forks and use the Neuspeed/Bilstein coilovers, or H&R coilovers.

The only reason I’ll be buying anything other that Koni is because they stopped making them for my Accord. I don’t like Tokico (owned two sets) and I won’t be buying KYB GR-2 (owned one set). My only choice then is Bilstein HD.

I like your idea. I went to this performance shop by my house and their guy that knows the prices was gone but one of the guys told me that their Gound Control coilovers run usually for around 150, then their koni shocks are about 100 a piece. I asked for the adapters but he doesnt know what that is so can you explain it to me what it is because I’m totally confused myself, I even wonder how I’m gonna put them on?

Ground Controls typically cost more than 250. Maybe you’re thinking about a GC knock-off. But anyway, you can order the adapters from Ground Control.

I read some stuff on their webiste and now I know what you are talking about. Well the guy isnt really sure like I said, he was just pretty much pulling prices out of his a**. But I’m gonna go back tomorrow and hope that the guy that knows the prices is there.

That or go to a shop where they know what they are talking about.

Damn those guys at that shop are either stupid or they just want me to buy the stuff they have in stock so they wont have to order just one item which will cost them a lot more than ordering whole bunch of that items. For the GC coilovers and Konis they wanted 950 and for the Eiback coilovers and Tokiko shock they wanted 750. The guy said that those set ups suck and that I should go with the tein basics. Thats when I left so I’m thinking to buy my parts online now.

Just out of curiousity, what shop did you go to?
