DA Integra wont start!!

Yesterday, I finally found the key to my DA Integra, so I decided to start it up, just to make sure it was still working (it was about a month or two ago). I turn it over and, no go. Stupid thing just keeps on turning.

OK so it’s time to check for spark and fuel. I’m pretty sure fuel is present, as the spark plugs are wet when pulled. A friend told me to remove the spark plug / wire and look at the electrode while turning the engine over (grounded of course). No spark. So is it the plugs or the ignition? To figure that out, I pulled the old oscilloscope out of the closet and fired it up. I measured the wire lead directly while turning it over and saw nothing. I believe you should see something in the order hundreds of volts if spark was present. There was some noise, but very low voltage.

I may have to dig a little deeper, maybe the coil is gone, or worse yet, the ECU??? Anybody ever had this problem? Anybody ever test a coil??

Thanks!

Eric

Get a shop manual and multimeter, theres a resistance check for the primary and secondary coils that will tell you if there are ok. If they check out then it’s probably your igniter. Could also be condensation inside the cap from being laid up. Hope it’s the latter.

Thanks, man. I’ll try it out this week.

starting problem,again

I had that happen to mine in June, being f**cked and at the g/fs in downtown montreal,i had to call the dealer to come and get the car. He changed the cap, wires, plugs, not to mention doing a number of other things. I got the car back and its been fines ever since. I know it wasn`t the plugs as i had changed them myself about 4 months earlier.

Thanks, man. I’m going to take the distributor apart and try cleaning it. I don’t want to spend any $$ if I don’t have to.

480,000 kms?? That’s amazing. You drove a 100,000 kms past the moon, yo.
