DA smokes in vtec...smoke coming out from interior....??

hey guys,
i have a b16a in my DA. whenever i hit vtec smoke comes out from under the passenger dash… my buddy was sayin it could be my exhaust system, like a leak or somthing. has this ever happened to anyone else?

can somone point me in the right direction?

burning wire?

that might be it. because fuse box and what not is under there. ill check

What does it smell like?

well i checked, and there are no burned wires. it is not a small burn, its like exhaust fumes. smells like gas/oil

the fuel lines and fuel filter sit on the passanger side fire wall. ckeck that

You may have an exhaust leak and exhaust gases are travelling up into the cabin. This is a common problem if you have a rusting exhaust system.

its most likely going to be a exhaust leak from your headers to the cat, anywhere in that section in between. I had a b18c with dc hearders bolted to the stock cat system and it always smelled like smoke in the cabin after a hard run, it went away soon as I got my custom 2.5" exhaust done. I deleted the cat and ever since I never even got a hint of exhaust smell in the cabine…
I would say get a test pipe and replace the cat that should make the smell go away, not the black smoke is a different story.

If it happens while not in gear and just revving, try jacking up the front end, throw some jackstands under there, and see how the exhaust is holding up. Maybe the exhaust fumes are getting through the fresh air circulation? Just throwing out some ideas…
