Okay guys, so I drive a DA9 with the stock B18A1 motor. I was driving home from school yesterday with my little bro and I got halfway out the parking lot and my car was making these wispy noises like air was passing through somewhere. I put my foot on the gas, and it goes away. I let the car idle, it keeps going on. I brake, it keeps going on. At first I thought it was the speakers so I took out the faceplate for my head unit. Still keeps making noise!
The tachometer (RPM gauge) also shows that my car is revving while stopped or parked. I pulled over in a parking lot and popped the hood and I didn’t see any visible problems. Once I left the parking lot, my steering wheel got hella loose and squirrelly like I had lost powering steering but I replaced the P/S pump a few weeks ago.
I don’t know what the problem is but if I had to guess it’d be my IACV (idle control valve).
It idles hard, there’s slight surging, but my car isn’t moving back and forth or anything. It idles hard, I don’t know how to explain it any other way.
I’m fairly certain its the IACV now. I tightened up a bolt for my current IACV and the “revving-while-parked” stopped. I just need a new idle control valve, unless the problem continues.
